We love accessories and gear that are not-so-basic here at simplyWORKOUT (if you couldn’t tell). Pops of color, hints of shimmer and bling, and details that step up the style game make us incredibly happy. That’s why when we first came across the hair accessories line by Shop Knotty, we knew we had to have them. We were recently able to chat with Lynn and Michelle – the mother/daughter team behind Shop Knotty – about their story.

How did Shop Knotty get its start?

Knotty started in 2011 when we owned a small boutique in Newport Beach/Cannery Village.  Knotty was a line that we created, developed and sold exclusively out of the boutique in its initial start.   In Spring 2012 we decided to sell the boutique to expand the Knotty brand.  We have grown steadily since then and love working with our wholesale and retail customers!

As a mother/daughter team, what are your biggest challenges/rewards in working together?

We are actually a great partnership, in so many levels of business skills, creativity, and entrepreneurship.  Even if we weren’t related, we would love to work together and completely trust each other’s instincts.  So we are very blessed!

How do find inspiration for the accessories you create?

Being a graphic designer, Michelle is very tuned in to all types of current media with its colors, trends and her own personal style.  Putting those aspects together has given Knotty a clear and steady anchor for both existing and future projects.

What are three items in your closet that you can’t live without?

We love Grey and Black as staples and of course, jeans.

What’s next for Knotty?

Watch for our new fitness/lifestyle line in early 2016!

Special Thanks to Lynn and Michelle Coulter, founders of Shop Knotty.
In 2011, Knotty was founded by Mom + Daughter duo, Lynn and Michelle Coulter. Within weeks of it’s inception, Lynn and Michelle presented the collection to buyers at Nordstrom, and they immediately picked up the line for their store locations nationwide. Since then, Knotty has grown to be an internationally recognized accessories brand that is sold in Department Stores, Specialty Boutiques, Fitness Studios and Gift Shops around the world.
