I have a confession. With all the birthdays that have passed, I slid off track with my 21 day fitness program. Each birthday dinner celebration required me to make an extra effort to stay on track with my intake of proteins, fruits and greens. This became especially difficult when wine was added to the party. I love wine and it was extremely hard not to partake. I know what you’re thinking, “That’s no excuse!” But you know what I say? “Life Happens!”
Not only did birthdays throw me off track, but some traveling which is always a difficult time for me to stay healthy, no matter how hard I try. How can I go to Vegas and NOT go to at least 1 buffet?
Yesterday was my first day back into my regiment and it was my leg day. My legs almost gave out on me a few times so I paused the video and stretched them out before moving on. After a great, sweaty workout, I wanted to do the 10 minute abs but my daughter wouldn’t let it happen. She loves getting my attention, 150%.
Today was Pilates and my body hurts so bad from leg day. I had a difficult time sitting down without holding on to something and going to the restroom was a lot harder now (I know, too much info – but I bet you can relate!). I may prefer Pilates out of all the workouts so far. A lot of strengthening, toning and stretching, which feels great. I used to hold a plank for 2 minutes but now I have a difficult time holding it for 1 minute without experiencing back pain. Giving birth definitely changes your body. I used to love working my abs, but now not so much. I guess it’s true about the saying, “No pain, no gain.”
Being a first time mother is quite challenging but I know that I need to set aside some time for me to feel strong again – it’s essential to my overall health and state of mind. Tomorrow I look forward to trying out the Total Body Cardio workout. I’m a bit nervous, but I know that I can do it. If my 5 month old boss lady lets me, that is.
