It’s not everyday that you encounter a brother and sister team of visionaries like Sara Panton & Sean Panton the founders of the classy and natural Vitruvi skin product line. This up-scale brand brings an art and refinement to the natural movement. Best known for their aesthetic packaging and prime selection of oils, this brand makes their mark by delivering only the best from around the world to their customers.
I was immediately drawn to the clean packaging and high-end feel for this particular brand along with their depth of research for their products. After speaking with Sara Panton, I wasn’t surprised to encounter a personal voice with a true conviction to deliver a high quality product that reflected their clean lifestyle.
1. The thought of sourcing materials from over 17 countries to create effective products is inspirational and at the same time sounds daunting. How did you go about selecting the best of the best for Vitruvi?
First and foremost we are a company focused on design and innovation formulating, we take a huge amount of pride in how we create our products and how they are intended to be used. All oils used in Vitruvi products are sourced from over 21 countries around the world. We choose only the highest grade essential oils that are best cultivated from the specific region of the world they are best known for as an example; our Lavender is from France, our Rose is from Bulgaria, and our Spruce is from Canada. All the oils are then combined in small batches and are blended by hand with traditional perfume formulating techniques in Vancouver B.C.
2. How is it working with family in this endeavor?
Sean and I started the company two years ago and I dont think we would be where we are today if we weren’t siblings. There is a different level of commitment and honesty when you work with family. We are able to move through problems and innovations quickly because we can speak completely honestly to eachother. The late night hours, early morning emails and weekends in the office are levels of dedication that would be hard to replicate. We’re committed to creating a sustainable business that represents the ethos of our family, our parents are very involved in trying new products. It’s really a family affair.
3. Your packaging is modern and eye-pleasing – we love it. What was most important to you in packaging design?
Thank you so much, we put a lot of time into our packing design. First and foremost we wanted to create a brand that was unisex and that aesthetically appealed to both men and women. There is an incredible amount of intention that went into our packaging design. Our iconic triangle boxes were made to represent the symbol for ‘change’ as used in math and physics — Vitruvi products are really about living with intention and committing to a change in your day / life when using them. All our packaging is made with environmentally friendly materials and are made to stack on each other. There are endless designs you can stack and align them in. It’s really fun.
4. Have you both always lived a natural lifestyle?
Yes we did! Growing up in a rural community in Victoria, B.C., we completely took for granted the clean air, fresh produce and community markets that were a common occurrence. Sundays were spent with our family at the weekly farmers’ collective where we would purchase fresh soap, jam, vegetables and eggs from the local artisans and farmers.
It was only after we moved to Vancouver that we realized how ‘chic’ it was to ‘live green.’ In Vancouver, the vegetables we once bought from our neighbors in our rural community were now delivered by pricy organic delivery services.
5. What do you foresee for the natural industry in 5 years?
I really think the quality of products will only keep increasing and that in 5 years there will be natural products integrated into our lives in a different way at more affordable prices.
Special thanks to Sara Panton & Sean Panton founders of Vitruvi
