The journey that led to Wonderland Organics has been the most amazing experience. When I first started researching green beauty, I had no idea how far down the rabbit hole I would go. Back in 2009, a health scare put my family on edge. We started focusing on a healthier lifestyle, which included juicing organic produce, and exercising more often. That got me thinking about the products that we put onto our skin: shouldn’t it matter what skincare products we were using, especially because some of the products are absorbed into our bloodstream?

When I moved to Taiwan, I was excited to experience a new culture and indulge in foodie life while working. But as luck would have it, living in a humid environment made my skin flare up. I would constantly do research after work to find natural products that would hopefully alleviate my skin issues. From there, I started market research by reading ingredient labels from drugstore to high end brands in Taipei. When the owners and salespeople of natural brands in Taiwan saw how often I was visiting their shops, they ended up teaching me about the benefits that organic ingredients had (which was how I fell in love with organic coconut oil!) The more time that I spent thinking about skincare, I realized I was interested in starting my own brand that was safe for families to use. As a bonus, I would know exactly what was in the products that I create.

After researching how to start a skincare business, I realized that I wanted to move back to California to learn how to formulate products. The week that I moved back, I took a multi-day skincare class: it was amazing learning from great teachers (and also about general good manufacturing practices to keep my workstation clean). These days, I am involved in trade organizations, continue to take skincare classes, attend trade shows, and read industry news to keep up to date.

The hard part of starting a business is building up credibility: who will buy from you when no one has heard of your brand? Luckily, there were people that were willing to take chances on Wonderland Organics. My very first customer bought a sample pack of the facial oils and promptly fell in love! She raved about the scent and the texture of the Soothe and Sublime Serums, and talked up my products to her family and friends. I remember feeling incredibly touched when she volunteered to work with me during the first holiday craft fair that I attended: not many people would do this gratis. To this day, she is still one of my most loyal customers. I am grateful to her and to everyone who supports this small indie business. 🙂

At Wonderland Organics, my mission is to create natural skincare with fresh and sustainable ingredients tailored for sensitive skin. You’ll find nothing but the best natural, organic, and wildharvested materials. Wonderland Organics line is vegan and cruelty free: no animal testing here! I make each product in small batches, and then store it in a cool area to extend the shelf life. If you have combination, oily, normal, or dry skin, you will find a product that is specially formulated for your skin type. Best of all, you will love these effective skincare products that are environmentally friendly and safe for you and your family.
